Thanks to everyone who participated this year with the SFTFC! With the conclusion of the Pride Meet on June 27, the club’s annual “official” track and field season is now over. After a few weeks of break during July, the distance, sprints, and throwing squads are now transitioning into new training cycles based on the race schedules and interests of the participating athletes.
As of July 18th, the middle/long distance running squad has resumed its weekly member-coached practices on Sundays at 9:30am at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (“SOTA”). Many of our members will be preparing for the San Francisco Front Runners’ Pride Run on August 28th and/or the San Francisco Half/Full Marathon on September 19th.
The sprinting crew is having “unofficial” member-coached base strengthening practice weekly on Sundays starting at 10:00am at SOTA. Our members are continuing to compete in the Tamalpa Runners track meets, scheduled for August 17th and September 14th.
The throwing team will return on August 8th for a mini season (1-to-2 months long) focused on improving technique with Coach Nathan, at 11:00am at Cox Stadium at San Francisco State University.
“Official” track season practices with workouts with our professional coaches will resume in February 2022 to get us ready for the 2022 Pride Meet (in-person; June), 2022 Eurogames in Nijmegen (July), and 2022 Gay Games in Hong Kong (November).
Our “official” season may be over, but the training never really stops! If you are interested in joining us, please email us at sftrackandfield@gmail.com to let us know to look out for you, or in case anything changes.
