We are very excited to introduce Mark Jellison as our track and field coach for the 2014 season. Our active participation in various fundraisers has made it possible to bring this unique and highly valuable coaching free to you during this season. He came highly recommended by the local track and field community, and he has a very impressive career as a decathlete as well as a track and field coach. Details of his credentials are found on Mark’s website. He will be at our Sunday practice from now until the end of July, so we encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity and train with us.
Today was his first day, and we all got our butts kicked – in a good way. A lot of drills for mobility and strengthening: Some are similar to what we’ve been doing, while others are new but interesting – and almost fun! A group of sprinters did 350m x 1 + 200m x 5, and others did different workouts, such as sprinting on the stairs and running strides. For the first few weeks, Coach will be learning about us so he can provide the best coaching to us. If you want to let him know about your current fitness level and your events, please use this athlete profile form, so that he can develop training programs for us.
Weekly updates
- We are still looking for volunteers for Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon Beer Garden. We would not be able to have Coach Mark Jellison onboard if we did not have volunteers for an event like this. Please let Koji Kawano know if you can help us and have some fun while doing it.
- No team practice next Sunday due to the fundraiser. Another reason to come volunteer with us! =)
