11th Annual Pride Track & Field Meet
Today, we tried new track workouts that fit everybody’s needs. Sprinters, mid-distance runners and undecided all took part in 2 x 500m and 3 x 200m track workouts. After warm-up drills at the soccer field, we did an easy 500m at 65% effort with a 5-minute break before the next 500m. After a 10-minute break, everybody ran three 200m at about 80% effort with a 5-minute break between. Result? Everybody won! We all felt like a team training for a common goal, and everybody was encouraging and encouraged. We will keep this team practice going forward.
Weekly updates
- Marcus Valera ran 63 seconds in 400m at UC Berkeley all-comers meet yesterday. We were all impressed how quickly he is getting into shape. All-comers meets are a good place to assess where you are in terms of your fitness level. Maybe we should arrange a trip and do one of those soon! Let us know if you are interested. See our event calendar for upcoming all-comers meets.
- Board of Directors met last Sunday and one of the action items is to create a budget for the year. If you want to see the Club hosting events or buy equipments, etc., please let the board members know, so we can budget such items.
- Take advantage of our community partner, Psoas Massage + Bodywork’s offer to stay away from injuries. 20% off of the first session is good until March 1. This is one of the Club’s initiatives to help members stay healthy before the Gay Games.
- Better pictures will be taken next week! Hopefully, images that show all how hard we are working and how much fun we are having at the same time.
