We are very excited to announce our new throw coach. Nathan DeSomber started with us and is coaching anyone who is interested in joining San Francisco Track and Field Club (SFTFC).
May 2016
Nathan started his first season as Assistant Throw Coach at San Francisco State University this year. In the past, he had coached City College of San Francisco and assisted with the Cal Throw Clinics as well. He himself is an awesome thrower. He was an All-American Shot Putter in 2001 with Cal, and he traveled to Akron with us back in 2014, where he demonstrated his powerful throwing skills (and destroyed the competition). In Akron, he earned gold medals in Shot Put, Hammer Throw and Discus Throw. He also earned a silver medal in Javelin Throw.
Nathan will be coaching us on select Sundays at San Francisco State University’s Cox Stadium. All ability is welcome, and it is free to join us. So, take advantage of this great opportunity to work on your throwing skills. If you are totally new to throwing events, still join us and learn how to throw a javelin, discus, hammer or shot put. Choice is yours! Nathan and members of our throw team will be thrilled to have you.
Please note expenses that are associated with hiring dedicated professional coaches, like Nathan, are being financed through our fundraising events. We are planning to hold another fundraiser on June 26 at San Francisco Pride Festival, and we need your help. We will send out details soon, but please contact Phil Aguilar if you can help us.
Congratulations on your new post Nathan
