The San Francisco Track & Field Club Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the Club will award athletic scholarships in 2013 for those competing in the World OutGames in Antwerp, Belgium and the National Senior Games in Cleveland.
The scholarship amount is expected to be about $750 for OutGames athletes and about $375 for Senior Games athletes. The Board will determine the final amount depending on the number of applicants. To be eligible, athletes need to fulfill the following requirements:
- Athletes shall compete under San Francisco Track & Field Club. This means that the SFTFC contingent that is competing must bring the team banner and wear team uniforms during the meet. Athletes shall support fellow team members in events over non-team members.
- Athletes need to have volunteered in either 2012 or 2013 in at least two fundraising events.
- Athletes must complete the application form
- Write a short application essay about how the scholarship will benefit you, and explain what your plans are for competing in the games and supporting the Club.
- Athletes to provide proof of payment (registration receipt) above scholarship amount (could be submitted at a later date)
- SFT&FC reserves the right to change the scholarship amount. Applicant must return the full scholarship amount in case of cancellation of competition.
- Athletes must regularly attend Sunday team practices.
- Deadline for submission is May 31, 2013.
SFTFC does not guarantee that every applicant will receive a scholarship and has the right to decline an application based on the above requirements. If approved, the scholarship checks will be awarded by June 15, 2013.
